Facebook

Hello!

I'm set up on Facebook as "The Eclectic Bohemian"  Not sure how this part figures into everything, but I do have a few networks that are communing over yonder and I'd like to check in and read up when I have a chance.  Rather than set up a personal account Facebook offers a Facebook professional page which suits me just fine.

My profile picture is set with my tree mama for now until my DS returns with the hard drive... evil child, umm I meant cute kid with the valuable hard drive ;)

Broom Casting

Broom Casting Pendant with Pink Opal
Broom Casting Pendant

These are two pendants I created with my Sterling Silver Broom Castings.  Both are available on my ETSY shop at Adornametals

Broom casting is a wonderful way to create organic freeform pieces of art jewellery.  They often resemble stalactite.

1) This is where it starts, the straw is soaked overnight or longer then bound together and placed standing upright in a pail of wet sand.

2) The silver is heated up in a well seasoned crucible before being poured onto the straw.

3) The end result!  Once the the straw has been doused with water and cooled, the straw can be untied to reveal the cast silver.  VOILA!

I was lucky, my pieces turned out rather large, giving me lots of flexibility and inspired many ideas for how to incorporate them in with my lapidary work.

I'm Baaaack!

Not much to show for for the adventure.  I stopped by the post box and was thrilled to see one of my packages sitting in the box just waiting to be discovered and added to my collection of things I want to get done before the Women's Art Festival.
I drove to the shop in the pouring rain, when I finally arrived, one detour after another- that should have been clue enough.  I pulled in parked and wondered, hummm how do I wade through that in my Birkenstocks?  Back to reality, I realized, yeah NO!  If I try to enter that building I'm good to get zapped by the electrical current running through the water,  not that I'm completely certain that would have happened, but it could have!  right?  It turns out the water in there is about knee deep or higher.

Back to the drawing board.  I guess I'll sit and knit tonight and maybe take in the True Blood marathon.

Welcome!

I'm off to work with some new copper I acquired form an other ETSY shop.
I'll be back to post pictures, I also have a few Broom Casting photos I'd like to put up.  See you soon!

Cheers
